Gold Edge

Introducing the Gold-Edge, a remarkable fusion of tradition and innovation, now a staple in Cort’s premium line. This stunning grand auditorium guitar features a Venetian cutaway and L.R. Baggs electronics, offering vintage sound with modern playability.

Crafted with master-grade tonewoods and boasting Cort’s groundbreaking Triple Bevel Cut system, the Gold-Edge ensures unparalleled comfort and sound. The Aged to Vintage (ATV) Sitka spruce top evokes the open, rich tones of a seasoned guitar, while solid flamed Myrtlewood back and sides add warmth and clarity.

Solid Sitka Spruce & Solid Flamed Myrtlewood Combination

Featuring superior strength and dense grains along with the flexibility to resonate freely, the premium grade solid Sitka spruce top on the Gold Series is ideal for virtually any musical genre with a brilliant and clear high-end, warm and rich midrange, and a deep but tight low-end for a beautifully balanced sound.

Triple Bevel Cut

The triple bevel cut was designed to give maximum comfort to the players. Carefully calculated bevel cuts have been applied to three strategic areas (armrest, cutaway, and rib rest) of the guitar body making sure that the areas where the guitar touches the player’s body is as ergonomically shaped as possible.

Auditorium Cutaway Body Type

With dimensions of 117mm(4 5/8") body depth, upper bout width at 292mm(11 1/2") and lower bout width at 405mm(16"), the Auditorium body size is perfectly in between the large Dreadnought and the more intimate Grand Concert. This makes the Auditorium body type ideal for both strumming/flatpicking and fingerstyle playing and suits the versatile acoustic player who prefers to have one guitar to cover a variety of sounds and playing styles.

L.R. Baggs® Anthem

The L.R. Baggs® Anthem pickup/preamp system delivers the pure acoustic vibrations of the instrument to the amplifier and PA without any coloration. Unneeded feedback can also be easily and effectively controlled through minimalistic controls that do not interfere with the look of the instrument.

Walnut Reinforced Neck

The neck on the Gold has been reinforced for added rigidity and stability using two special inserts. This is constructed with two pieces of walnut installed to add stability while still retaining the natural properties of wood to further upgrade the Gold.

DoubleLock Neck Joint

The connection between a guitar’s neck and body is another key factor for great sound. On the Gold, we started with a tight fitting traditional dovetail neck joint. We then reinforced it by adding a bolt. This DoubleLock neck joint maximizes the transfer of tone and enhances resonance on the Gold.

Hand-Rolled Fret Edge Treatment

The shaping and treatment of a guitar’s frets have a big impact on comfort and performance. Most guitar makers simply bevel the frets at each end to eliminate the sharp edges. Boutique acoustic builders, however, use a method to dress their frets to make them round, smooth, and ultra-comfortable to touch and play.

Neck Profile

Cort has developed comfortable dimensions in neck thickness from the headstock to the heel to increase comfort in your hands and optimize playability.

Ebony Fingerboard

There are many types of woods that are used for fingerboard but no other compares to the jet-black beauty and slick smoothness of Ebony.

Ebony Bridge Pins

The high density of Ebony wood keeps the fundamental acoustic sound focused and tight with greater sonic projection than plastic, enhancing the transfer of the string vibrations throughout the soundboard top, body and the neck.

Sonically Enhanced UV Finish for Truer Tone

The Gold-Edge’s UV finish is thinner than standard poly or nitro finishes, allowing the wood the vibrate and breathe more naturally.

The process also reduces the amount of chemical interaction between the finish and the woods, which is ideal for your instrument’s longevity.

Aged to Vintage Top

A vintage instrument is the holy grail of acoustic guitar tone. The wood on the top cures and opens up more over time. This unleashes a tonal quality that is missing in new instruments – until now.

Using a special process called ATV (Aged To Vintage), is used to treat the solid sitka spruce top to giving it that big and open tone of a decades-old, highly-sought-after acoustic.

This torrefaction process delivers that amazing tone to you right out of the box.
